FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
NEW YORK, NY - Old Hat Productions proudly announces the first CD release of Broadway star and Greenwich Village favorite singer Terri White.
TERRI WHITE: THE LADY'S GOT TO SING
Obie Award-winner Terri White celebrates the release this week of her first solo collection of 11 jazz and standard vocal classics, plus the original title track, "The Lady's Got to Sing," co-written with her musical director, Bobby Peaco.
Ever since Terri's starring roles in the original productions of Broadway's "Barnum," "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Bubbling Brown Sugar," as well as Off-Broadway's "Nunsense," "Nunsense II," "Juba" and "The Club" (for which she won her Obie), her legions of fans worldwide have anxiously awaited this long-overdue release. After appearing with Liza Minelli in "Liza Live! At Radio City Music Hall," Terri says, "For the longest time people on the streets would yell at me: "Pity you can't sing, Terri!" (Which Liza cheekily said to her on stage, and which remains intact on the live recording of that show.)
Terri White originally came to NYC from her native California to pursue her dream of dancing on Broadway. Fortunately for us, her Mabel Mercer-influenced style of singing instead quickly got her noticed and has since become her signature. Terri can be seen delighting patrons from all over the world at the West Village's legendary nightspot Rose's Turn on Grove St. frequently. Now, those patrons and everyone else can take a little bit of Terri along home to enjoy whenever they turn on their stereo.
"Terri White: The Lady's Got to Sing" is available from HMV (Herald Square), Virgin on Broadway, and selected other outlets in NYC, as well as directly from her production company, Old Hat Productions, at 917-407-8041.
A VIP reception for press and invited guests will be held in her honor on Sunday, July 9th from 9:30PM to 12:30AM at Chelsea Lobster Company, 156 Seventh Ave. (btw 19th and 20th Sts). Press should RSVP directly to Shannon Lee Parker at 917-407-8041.
